What This Weekend Is Really About
Think of this as a historic getaway where the food is exceptional, the conversations go deep, and the connections are real. You’ll share meals, stories, and laughs with other like-minded carnivores who understand the journey.
This isn’t a formal conference or a stuffy seminar. It’s sitting around a 130-year-old dining table, asking the questions you’ve been wondering about, learning techniques you can actually use, and building friendships with people who “get it.”
Great food. Real conversations. Genuine camaraderie. History all around you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know
Does “Express Your Interest” mean I’m committing to attend?
No, not at all. Expressing interest just opens the conversation. We’ll reach out personally to discuss available dates, answer your questions, and see if the experience feels right for you. There’s zero commitment or pressure—just a friendly conversation.
Do I have to follow the entire itinerary?
Absolutely not. We have a suggested schedule of meals and events for the weekend, but you’re free to do whatever you please. Want to skip an event and explore on your own? 100% okay by us. Want to join everything? Also great! This is your weekend—we’re here to support however you want to experience it.
Will Kerry and Jen stay in the building with us?
No. Kerry, Jen, and family live about 10 minutes away and will be present for all meals and scheduled events, but they don’t stay overnight in the Dodge House. You and your fellow guests have the historic home to yourselves in the evenings.
What is this weekend really all about?
Four things: History. Great food. Carnivore camaraderie. Fun. You’ll eat exceptional meals prepared using different techniques, learn the fascinating story of Frank Dodge and this 1894 home, have real conversations with people who understand the carnivore journey, and hang out with your tribe in a setting unlike anywhere else.
How many people attend each retreat?
Maximum 5 guests. We intentionally keep it tiny. This isn’t a big conference—it’s a small gathering where everyone gets to know each other, conversations go deep, and you actually build real connections.
What’s included in the $1,500 per person price?
Everything except your travel to Montello. Two nights in the historic home, all meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast (including that opening tomahawk ribeye), cooking demos, history tours, theater access with movie and snacks, 24/7 kitchen access, and full weekend access to Kerry and Jen. Couples save $250 when sharing a room ($2,750 total for two).
What if I have dietary restrictions beyond carnivore?
Let us know on the interest form! We can accommodate preferences like beef-only, no dairy, specific allergies, etc. The whole weekend is carnivore-focused, so that’s covered—we just want to know if there’s anything else we should be aware of.
Is the Dodge House wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, no. Built in 1894, the home has stairs and narrow doorways that aren’t wheelchair accessible. We’re happy to discuss specific accessibility needs—reach out and let’s talk about what might work.
When are the retreats scheduled?
We run 2-3 weekends per year, typically in spring, summer, or fall. Once you express interest, we’ll share the available dates and you can pick what works best for your schedule.
What’s the cancellation policy?
We’ll share the full cancellation and refund policy when we discuss dates. Since the group is so small, we want to be fair to everyone—both you and the other guests who are counting on the experience.
I have more questions—how do I reach you?
Just fill out the interest form and mention your questions in the “anything else” section. We’ll reach out within 48 hours and answer everything personally. Or visit www.thedodgehouse.com to learn more about the Dodge House and its history.
